Schiffelly Puppets at Cloquet Library

Come to the puppet show of “Cinder-Freckle-Frog-Faced-Ella” at 2 p.m., Thurs., July 29, 2010, at the Cloquet Public Library. This humorous and fun-filled program for the family is brought to you by the Schiffelly Puppets.

There will be a real puppet stage and lots of puppets. Jim is responsible for the creation of the original voices and the puppet characters. He has performed in theater productions. Shelley is in charge of the puppet stage design and construction. Sue works with the puppet shows in various capacities.

The Schiffelly Puppets have been entertaining at libraries, corporations, and community celebrations for over 25 years. Librarians have said, “Kids and their parents all enjoyed the show.”

Sustainable Landscaping, Shoreland Buffers, and Rain Gardens Program

This is a two part program. Part 1 is entitled “Top 10 Tips for Sustainable Landscaping.” Do you have a landscaping project in mind? Get started by learning 10 tips for designing and installing a sustainable landscape for your home focused on plant health and longevity. Part 1 lasts one hour, and is taught by Julie Weisenhorn, who is an Assistant Extension Professor and the Director of the University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener Program.

Part 2 is entitled “Residential Shoreland Buffers and Rain Gardens”.
Learn how you can conserve and used rain water in your landscape with shoreland buffers and rain gardens that capture this important resource and prevent runoff into our lakes and rivers. Part 2 lasts one hour, and is taught by Eleanor Burkett who is an Associate Extension Professor and works with the University of Minnesota Extension Shoreland Team. This is a great program you will not want to miss.
