Magic Mama's lively show comes to library


Entertainer Magic Mama will perform hip hop and world beats for the whole family at 10:30 a.m., Sat., May 1, at the Cloquet Public Library.

The program is free of charge and open to the public.

Through her music, Magic Mama delivers an empowering and hope-filled message of love and respect for all and inspires creative thinking and Earth-friendly actions. Her show includes an energetic stage design, lively music, and fun, participatory opportunities.

Magic Mama's debut album, has been described as, “Intricate and mesmerizing rhythms, gorgeous jazzy vocals, clever lyrics, rap influences, and a consistent ecological message... about the importance of working together, respecting each other and the Earth... but without feeling preachy, leavened as they are with humor, both in the music and lyrics."

Children's book illustrator at Library


Henry Cole, the talented illustrator of more than 40 books for children, will present a program at 4 p.m., Mon., April 19, at the Cloquet Public Library.

The event is free of charge and open to the public.

Cole’s impressive list of books includes the New York Times bestselling The Leprechaun's Gold by Pamela Duncan Edwards, the nationally bestselling Little Bo by Julie Andrews, and many picture books written by himself, including On Meadow Street. A Nest for Celeste, a new book, is his first novel.

Cole is the illustrator for the Library’s summer’s reading program theme, “Make a Splash.”

Library's Spring Book Sale

The Friends of the Cloquet Public Library will host their annual Spring Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sat., April 17, 2010. Everyone is welcome to come and browse through our ample selection of discarded library books as well as area donations, ranging in quality from used to next-to-new.

Proceeds from sales will go to library programs and new book acquisitions.
