Duluth Poet Laureate Jim Johnson writes poetry that is cut from the cloth of his Finnish roots, recalling the lives of Finnish settlers in northern Minnesota. It is the quintessential American story of the immigrant experience: of families, hunger, nature and hard work. The Carlton County Historical Society will provide a backdrop to Johnson’s readings with photos from the museum archives depicting agricultural practices from the county’s past.
